Hello from Erebyte

What Mythwake is, why the world it happens in stopped answering, and what one person can honestly promise.

First post, so it should say what the thing is.

Mythwake is a colony sim. You arrive with a dozen people and a few sacks of supplies. You put up shelter, you find food before the season turns, and you grow from there. You have played that before, and I want to get it right rather than get it new.

The part that isn’t the same is where you’re doing it.

The world used to answer

Four hundred years ago, work done well got a reply. Not from a god and not from a state. It was a property of the place, like weather. A wall built truly held more than a wall should. A field planted truly yielded past what the soil held. Every people asked in whatever it was good at: masons in stone, weavers in thread, smiths in the pour, farmers in the planting.

Then in one night every reply stopped. Everywhere, in every craft, at once.

What broke wasn’t the making. It was the answer. So the old works are still standing all over the map, correct and dead, and the land they held in shape has spent four centuries relaxing into whatever it wants to be. Rivers moved. Slopes let go. Passes closed.

Your colony exists because one of those works failed behind a travelling party and cut them off. They stopped walking and started building. That’s the opening.

Thirty years ago, small makings started getting small replies again. Nobody knows what’s answering.

Why that’s in the code and not just the codex

I didn’t want lore that sits in a menu and never touches a mechanic. So:

  • Magic isn’t a class. It unlocks late inside every profession, because the craft is the medium of asking. A master farmer’s magic and a master smith’s have almost nothing in common.
  • Research reads samples, not books. The old age wrote into material. You learn by dragging things home and taking them apart.
  • Exploration is the point. The lore itself is written and fixed, but it’s scattered fresh across every world, so the finding is yours.

What I can honestly promise

I’m one person, with occasional help from a friend, doing this alongside a job. No publisher, no deadline, no release date. There won’t be one until the first slice is good enough to deserve it.

What there is: a custom engine in Odin, and a colony that already builds, farms, hauls, fights wolves and buries its dead. And this, which will keep showing the real thing, broken parts included.

If that sounds like your kind of game, the mailing list is where I’ll say come and play it.
